Clinical Epidemiology Unit
Department ProfileMakerere Clinical Epidemiology Unit (CEU) was established in 1989 in the College of Health Sciences (formerly in the Faculty of Medicine) of Makerere University with support from the Rockefeller Foundation and the International Clinical Epidemiology Network (INCLEN). The aim of Makerere CEU is to foster the development of training and research in clinical epidemiology in the College of Health Sciences in order to improve the health of Ugandans. Makerere CEU fulfils this mandate through three main activities namely the Master of Science in Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics programme, the Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Research Methods course for masters students, the Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Demography (Community Health 1) course for undergraduate students and short courses for students and staff. In 2011, Makerere CEU will commence the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programme.
