Moses Joloba

Moses L. Joloba, MBChB, M.S., Ph. D is a Professor of Molecular Biology, Immunology and Microbiology and the current Dean, of the School of Biomedical Sciences, College of Health Sciences at Makerere University and also a member of the Institute Technical Board (ITB) of Makerere University Lung Institute. Dr. Joloba has developed skills in developing training programs, starting graduate and short courses, setting up standard laboratories, initiating and participating in successful North to South and South to South collaborations, conducting laboratory-based research as well as training of graduate students.

Training experiences:
A. Involvement in Training Programs:
i) Immunology in the Tropics www.muii.org.ug/March2012.html: In 2008 with support from Welcome Trust, Dr. Joloba started a 2 weeks course called Immunology in the Tropics. The course is taught by Faculty from Makerere, Uganda Virus Research Institute as well as other Northern and Southern Institute Universities.
ii) East African Diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene http://chs.mak.ac.ug/content/east-african diploma- tropical-medicine-and-hygiene. Dr. Joloba is the Makerere University lead in initiating and implementing a very successful Diploma in Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
iii) Masters in Clinical Microbiology and Immunology www.mbl.mak.ac.ug. It is a two years master’s course in Makerere University in the Department of Microbiology. Dr. Joloba was the lead in designing the curriculum and setting up the immunology laboratory. He participates in training in this course.
iv)  Clinical Operation and Health Services Research (CHORE). Dr. Joloba is a Faculty member for the CHORE NIH supported training grant. He has supervised two PhD students under this program
v) AIDS International Training and Research Program (AITRP). Dr. Joloba having been trained under AITRP he has also helped supervise degree and non-degree students on this program.
